It's snowing?

Ride 15.

The Woodlot

Trails: Tsuga, Snakes and Ladders, Blood Donor, Lower Toadstool, Bloggy Style, Shotgun.

Ride started out with by bike breaking for the second day in a row. Turns out my cassette has some side to side play, weird?! I'll have to look into that because I can't properly adjust my derailleur to prevent the chain from falling off the backside of the cassette and wedging into the spokes. Only a couple pics as my P/S camera is acting dumb and keeps saying that the batteries are dead. There is one of us (Morgan) fixing the chain and another of Morgan just before he got back on the tour bus. Oh ya, it was snowing up top of the Woodlot, no snow on Vedder or Sumas though.

Greatest single track ever.

Feb 15, 2011. Ride 14.

Vedder Mtn.

Duck Farm Trail.

I think this is bar-none the best single track in the Lower Mainland. I personally haven't ridden any else that comes close. It comes at a price though. The full loop is almost 3 hours long...30 mins of it is single track, then the trail spits you out on the road about 10km from were you park. I think its worth it, but apparently others don't. The trail doesn't get rode much, a plus in my books.

The ride starts from the parking area by the Vedder River Bridge. From there its about 3 km's on the road towards Cutlas Lake to where you start the ride up. From there its about a 45 min climb up some bench cut trail through a previous slide area.

Once you hit the top your met by some sweet Vedder Mountain Trail Association trail markers. Ya that is trail number 203.

This rock is killing me...it's a bottom bracket eater and then you have to avoid the rock to the left in the picture. Not to mention there is a bit of exposure to the right of the picture. Eating it here usually hurts.

The trail features some old school sketchy bridges.

Blow down sucks, especially when its on the lip of a drop. Now one I know of maintains this trail and that trees needs someone skilled with a chainsaw. I took the picture after fighting my way through the tree the wrong way.

Its never fails. The bottom of the trail is very fast and very rocky, I have yet to make it through without flatting.

Once you hit the road its about 2 kms to the rail bridge, after crossing the bridge its about 8 kms on multi-purpose trail back to where you park. Its a nice finish to a sweet ride.

Big ride, the end.

A little late.

Feb 13, 2011. Ride 13

Ledgeview

trails: Ambi, Lazy Boy, Tools, Flintstones, Spawn of Bolderdash and 'bahn.

A quick ride. Nothing major. Here is a nice picture of some more bench cut single track.

A quick rip

Ride 12

Ledgeview north side

Trails: 1:41(up), Paper Route(up), Mixed Bag, Amy Fisher.

No camera, just went for a real fast ride. Temperature started dropping fast and the wet patches started to freeze on the way down. The bottom of mixed bag needs some work, can you say mud fest?

Sumas again.

Ride 11.

Sumas Mtn

Trails: Knob Gobbler, Holiday Sauce, The Sauces, The Peels, The extra bits.

Returned to Sumas again and pushed up to Knob Gobbler this time. A little bit of corn snow up top, nothing to worry about on the trails. The climb up was real slow. My knee is still bothering me so I'm climbing slow to try and ease it back in. Trails got wetter as I descended but were in real good shape over all. I'm really looking forward to riding the new sections of Extra Sauce once the warmer and dryer weather arrives.

On to the pictures.

The road and the weather at the 3/4 mark of the climb.

Greeeezy!

Ride 10

Heritage Park, Mission, BC

Trails: Glen's Loop, Gondola, Jacob's Ladder, Glen's Loop, Gondola, Corrie's Corners, White Water.

Good ride, bad ride. Ian invited me along to bring up the rear with the XC-racer-boy-weight-weenie crew. Damn they are fast on the up hills. Around the 15th time they dropped us, we got turned around and fell way behind. After that we just went at our pace. Ian even took a sweet pic of me on Corrie's Corners. Trails were pretty slimy today. I even fell into a knee deep mud hole.

Another Doh!

Ride 9

Golden Ears Park.

Eric Dunning Trail.

Forgot the memory card for the camera this time. No pictures. While it was dry and sunny everywhere else, Golden Ears was locked in low lying cloud and rain.

Finally figured out how to get pictures off my phone. This is all I've got.
